the thing about a content feed is that it's designed so you don't have to think about what you want to see, you only need to decide how to react to what you're shown

Good point. I do try to avoid that effect, but that passes through some ways that are not always ideal. For example I have now unfollowed some accounts that cast with a very high frequency, otherwise my feed is just full of 2/3 accounts. Though some of them are well known community contributors, so I'm unsure how to do
