I absolutely hate that all banks and value store institutions make it so difficult to manage finances. It seems so damn easy from dev standpoint to allow people to manage budgets with enforcement mechanisms set by the individual on various purchase types, especially in latest crypto developments.

The gamesmanship of traditional banking institutions and basically all finance is not going to disappear with crypto. But crypto is a hell of a lot better than the existing system. I appreciate the next level competitiveness here. Especially when it creates a world that is hyper focused on consumer finance

Instead, even if we disable our debit cards, subscriptions go through anyway and we have no way to manage a budget with digital banking.  Banks hold you hostage on account closure (must visit in person) in hopes that you keep subscriptions that overdraft your account if you do try to shift. Its all designed to make it finance difficult so that you pay more to the banks in fees.
