The FCA and the Bank of England recently issued two Discussion Papers on a proposed regulatory regime for stablecoins.

In brief, our views are quite straightforward:

• Stablecoins merit a new approach
• More innovation > getting the framework exactly right
• Interest-bearing stablecoins are a no-brainer for more competition
• Singleness of money = allowing issuers to deposit at BOE
