I was contacted a measly three days before the event and informed that I would be receiving an award for my contributions from the En chennai young Chennai team third edition. I was understandably excited about this, but when I contacted them to arrange for a sign language interpreter, they flatly and unacceptably denied to make the event accessible, citing some last-minute "challenge" - as if providing basic accommodations for disabled attendees is an inconvenience rather than a legal and moral obligation. The fact that I informed them of this need a full 24 hours in advance makes their callous disregard for accessibility all the more egregious.

2/n I firmly informed them that I would not be attending the event at all if an interpreter was not provided. Only then did they grudgingly agree to have an interpreter present, but with the deplorable caveat that I, the award recipient, would have to arrange sign language interpreter . The sheer audacity and ableism of this response is truly appalling and outrageous. At the venue, the interpreter was then inexplicably denied access to the stage, and was instead asked to only interpret the questions directed at me during the award presentation. This discriminatory and exclusionary treatment is utterly unacceptable. Deaf attendees deserve full access to the entire event, not just selective portions.

3/n I have comprehensive chat logs documenting this entire disgraceful sequence of events. This level of blatant ableism and lack of basic accessibility must be forcefully addressed and condemned. As an award recipient, the organizers had a responsibility to ensure the event was inclusive and accessible to all, yet they failed spectacularly in this regard. Their actions were unethical, illegal, and an affront to the disabled community.
