I saw her for the first time at a village fair. She was eating sweets, and I fell in love. My father was a farmer, and so am I, couldnāt say anything to her because she belonged to a wealthy family. But I continued to follow her everywhere, secretly and silently. For three years, I didnāt say a word to her. Then, a very good marriage proposal came for her, and I knew I would have to watch her royal wedding helplessly. On the night of her engagement, I cried my heart out while sitting in my boat by the riverside near my house.
Suddenly, I saw someone running toward the boat. Before I could understand what was happening, she jumped in and started rowing. Even in my dreams, I never imagined something like that could happen in my life. The first thing she said to me was, āStupid, you are very stupid.ā Itās been forty years, and she still calls me stupid every single day. Iām very happy to be stupid.
