I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news. The NFT you just created isn’t going to last. It will be sooner than you’d imagined that the metadata will be lost or the media will be lost or the media wont’t work anywhere. But what would it take so you could have Long NFTs?

First up is consistent creator provenance. How have we made it this far without it? We’re starting to work on that here. You can help! DMs open and/or signal boost with a RC 😊 https://ethereum-magicians.org/t/nft-creator-provenance-standard/14259

And just as all physical fine art is expected to change (restorations), we need to allow all digital art to be changed as well.

Mutable NFT metadata is a bit of a beast which raises questions about trust, verifications, strange new ritualistic ceremonies and other fun things. We’ll tuck that one away for another day.

Each of your works of art is one of the unique and authentic footprints that is the majesty of your life’s journey. We all know nearly all of those footprints will fade and be forgotten. Don’t let your art fade. Build art that lasts. Create Long NFTs ✨
