Let's go Macro for a second when it comes to geopolitics...Look at all the hots spots below, on every continent except Europe/US. This isn't really taking into account Criminal Gangs, Terrorism, People Trafficking, Natural Disasters, Climate Change, Militia Groups, Regimes which are forcing people to leave - This is pure macro based on the facts we see around food insecurity, but you can see where it will make an impact when it comes to geopolitics - If people can't feed themselves & their families, they force themselves to leave. Add in the below factors...Which explain more about the data.

"The eight countries covered – Not only span the globe but also have very different geographies, climate, culture & political systems. Yet what is most striking is their commonalities. In all countries, soaring inflation & stagnant incomes have put healthy food out of reach for many people, while a reliance on global markets to feed the population has made them hostages to either spiking import bills or market volatility. Diets heavy in starch & input-intensive agriculture caused many nations to depend on a handful of countries for staples and farm inputs, but this trade was disrupted by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. A large number of food- and fertiliser-importing countries had relied on these two key agricultural exporters for supplies. Compounding the challenges are high levels of public debt and wild weather patterns that are either already reducing crop yields or threatening to do so. At least four countries – Sri Lanka, Argentina, Ghana, and Pakistan – were facing significant debt distress."

Srilanka wanted to completely overhaul to organic cultivation overnight, leaving it in a severe distress and due to other multiple factors led to the collapse of the govt. It should be back on track soon. Curious on Haiti and other island nations to know if a chart exists on domestically grown vs imported.
