Creating, refining, and testing regex expressions has been my favorite use of ChatGPT so far. I don't need to know exactly how the expression code works (I'm focused one level higher) but can describe the rules in plan english and update/refine it as test data is passed to it. Really nice experience. 👌

Dumb idea that imo is Win Win Win - inspired by @ted’s immigration cast We should define a 2 year national level service pipeline w military AND civil options, put every single person that wants to come here (sans normal visa) through it, and advertise the hell out of it Give me a budget and I’ll run it 🫡

The main problem with chatGPT as a productivity tool is that my mind gets blown for 5-10 minutes every time I use it. It’s actually hard to get used to the idea of having permanent coding superpowers

The first order prediction for LLM effects is that side projects are going to 10000x over the next few months. It’s like carnival for side projects

Tried to get chatGPT to finish my essay, seems like output is capped around ~650 characters 😭. It started off great, too.

As a consequence I will try and be much nicer and neutral here than on my birdsite account, which I have long treated as the dumpster fire that platform has always deserved. That people ever conferred respectability to it perpetually surprised me.

Frcstr has greatly positioned itself by doing all the work to get you up and running with a Twitter-like experience with one button. It’s nice to be in a pure tech space again

Interesting serendipity of AI revolution happening at the same time as all this social media brouhaha. The effect of having something genuinely interesting in the news for 6+ months gives tech-savvy people on alt social platforms something to talk about other than the platform itself

FWIW, I think this could be somewhat measurable. If a chat bot can produce a hormonal response in league with regular social contact (no therapy required), then we’re cooking with gas. Barring that the best use will be to get real information (eg physiological advice)
