That value has nearly doubled in just 1 year, according to a recent University of Michigan study.

Investments include individual stocks, mutual funds and retirement accounts such as 401(K) or IRAs.

Meanwhile, the share of stocks in the financial assets of U.S. households hit a new record of 41.6% in Q1 2024.
