once upon a time the only stablecoin around was called DAI (which is now called Sky, for some reason nobody knows), and to get it you had to execute 5 separate txs and open something super sexy called a collateralized debt position

One of the more obscure stories from the early days of Ethereum involves a "bug bounty" that led to a unique twist in the platform’s history. In 2016, during the ICO craze, a smart contract called The DAO was launched, raising over $150 million in Ether. However, a vulnerability in The DAO's code allowed a hacker to drain about $50 million worth of Ether. In response, the Ethereum community faced a major decision: they could either roll back the blockchain to reverse the hack or let it stand and accept the loss. This led to a contentious debate and ultimately resulted in a hard fork of the Ethereum blockchain. The original chain, which continued to exist as Ethereum Classic (ETC), preserved the history of the hack, while the new chain (Ethereum, ETH) implemented the rollback.
