Is it best practices to split an index file into three files for html, css and JavaScript?

It depends a little bit on what kind of set up you're working in but generally I would split those out into individual files, yes.

I don't think Astro supports it but I may be 100% wrong bc I hardly know what I'm doing

In astro you usually have components, a css, and little to no js files.

Yep, I'm back to my 800 line index file I do have an api.js file, but it is no longer working after my morning mayhem, so I may do it the right way now

What are you building? Are you using any sort of guide or are you just tinkering to see what works?

I'm building a Farcaster client It's my first coding project I've got some *limited* Figma skills, but I'm just going straight into html and CSS on this one

Very cool. What's the client going to do?

Initially focusing on AI summarization of threads, topics, channels, et al., and connecting Telegram and other web data with the protocol

Sometimes! I think the project won't feel sustainable to me unless it's creating value for others I also occasionally need validation for ideas that seem *weird*

For sure, the motivation is to learn how to code and build something that I want to use I might find another coding project that will motivate me but for now I have a lot of ideas that can be built on Farcaster, so it's a good short- and long-term project

Plus you'll come out of the process with a real app and not just a toy portfolio project. I find it very helpful when some aspect of a project/interest narrows my focus for me instead of having to be totally responsible for holding focus myself. Helps to prevent rabbit trails.

Totally Farcaster is just people and content, so it can become a million things over the years, as long as the protocol keeps growing and its focus shifts I'm very long *people and content* and interested in building onchain integrations that inspire me
