re, /degen channel spam: @v has proposed a one-time fee to post in the channel (unless you get banned, in which case you pay again). Prototype would be warps (off-chain points), then transition on-chain to $degen (eventually). Should /degen charge $degen to cast here?

The Q for me is: is the resistance this creates helpful? Some bad actors will have the money and it will be profitable enough for them to continue. Alternatively some new community members will not participate because of the barrier to entry.

i think the goal is to throttle 'possible spam', making it possible for a human team to manage at scale. it doesn't replace our mod tools, just makes for fewer targets than otherwise

I get that, and I see the growing wave of bots on the horizon and the need for more tools to fight them. I am wondering how to balance those tools vs the potential new members of the community who may not want to pay to learn about $degen

I wonder if there could be some sort of trial channel where new members could come and learn, then you could pay to enter the main chat.

i see this evolving in a few ways; first, a flat fee. eventually, i see a more complicated setup wherein newcomers are referred to warpcast w/ a small amount of $degen in wallet already. enough for a bit of art, admission to /degen, or some light gambling. this could be expanded to educate users too.
