The history of Buddhism is the story of one man's spiritual journey to Enlightenment, & of the teachings & ways of living that developed from it. One day, seated beneath the Bodhi tree, Gautama became deeply absorbed in meditation, determined to penetrate the truth of Life. He finally achieved Enlightenment & became the Enlightened One who rediscovered an ancient path to release clinging and craving and escape the cycle of birth and rebirth.
