not an expert, but https://explorer.degen.tips/ shows very low utilization and blocks getting pushed so congestion seems unlikely.

Sorry coming back to this again. I read that failed transactions should check their wrapped eth on base. Did you see that? If there is a gas spike and you can't cover fees, they convert to weth and deposit to your wallet automatically
