The Forestry Society stands alongside Ethereum to protect its core values. The Ethereum Foundation (EF) has just announced the establishment of the Forestry Society – an external advisory group that will assist EF in preserving the identity of Ethereum with pillars such as open-source code, security, privacy, and anti-censorship. The name "Forestry" stems from the idea of viewing Ethereum as a vast "forest" that needs to be nurtured for sustainable growth. The Society acts as the "forest rangers" for the "Ethereum forest," ensuring that the value of the Ethereum ecosystem is not diminished: Ethereum can only thrive if the developer community continues to build on these principles. If the Society plays its role well, Ethereum will maintain its appeal and trustworthiness, while the EF remains fully committed to preserving the core identity of the network.

🌊 The wave of institutional Bitcoin adoption is spreading globally. 🔹 Barclays, one of the largest banks in the UK, has just invested $131M in BlackRock's Bitcoin ETF (IBIT), officially joining the list of major banks gaining exposure to Bitcoin through ETFs, following Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan. 🔹 Avenir Group, an investment and asset management firm based in Hong Kong, has just revealed that it holds $599M in Bitcoin ETF, one of the largest Bitcoin investments in Hong Kong. 🔹 SBC Medical Group, a cosmetic company with branches in Japan, Vietnam, and the US, has announced it purchased 1 billion yen worth of BTC (~$6.7 million USD). There are only 21 million BTC, fighting for it like this, it will run out quickly... 😁

He is no longer selling ETH but instead pushing it to stimulate the Ethereum ecosystem. Ethereum has transferred part of the Foundation’s ETH, worth nearly $120M, into DeFi protocols. Specifically: 10,000 ETH into Spark 10,000 ETH into Aave Prime 20,800 ETH into Aave Core 4,200 ETH into Compound By placing ETH into these protocols, the Ethereum Foundation can earn returns to operate, rather than needing to liquidate ETH as it did before. It’s estimated that these investments could generate $1.5M in annual profits with an interest rate of 1.5%.

🚨 zkLend on Starknet Hacked for Over $9M The lending protocol zkLend was attacked, targeting the derivative token lending market for wstETH, with estimated losses around 3,666 ETH ($9.48M). Immediately after the incident, zkLend paused withdrawals and made an offer to the hacker: keep 10% as a reward, but return 90% (3,300 ETH ~ $8.4M) if they want to avoid legal consequences. ZEND price dropped by 15% following the news, and the TVL plummeted from $11.57M to just $1.17M. Starknet’s system is already compromised, and now it’s been hacked

🚨 Binance reaches a settlement with the SEC - Requesting a 60-day pause on lawsuits This conciliatory move opens the door for negotiations between the two parties instead of continued confrontation. It marks a new step as the SEC is restructuring its crypto regulatory team to establish a clearer legal framework for the market. Earlier, in June 2023, the SEC sued Binance & CZ with 13 charges of securities law violations, sparking a prolonged legal battle since then. If the court approves, Binance will have additional time for negotiations. More importantly, this could set a precedent for other organizations involved in lawsuits with the SEC to adopt a similar strategy and seek more favorable agreements, such as Ripple, Kraken, and Coinbase.
