It was bound to happen. With every music tech development, they've been late to adopt and early to sue. Mp3s, Napster, streaming, etc. They just want the biggest piece of the pie without thinking about future benefits.

Don’t make the mistake of thinking this is Napster 2.0. Majors learned that lesson by the time streaming took over. Which is why they took a 20% stake in Spotify in return for sweetheart US royalty streaming rates. This suit isn’t about stifling tech, it’s about clearing the field for them to use it themselves.

Good point. It's definitely in their benefit to work with these companies and take a piece of the pie instead.
