My first job was Dollar General. I was a cashier. One day this guy came in and was super rude to me. He checked out and stormed out of the store. A woman came in right after him, came up to me, and immediately apologized on his behalf. She informed me that they had just lost a family member. That interaction changed my whole outlook. Especially when I'm at work. I am interacting with these people for a brief period of time. I don't know what they are going through. If they act rude or obnoxious to me, I don't take it personally. I just wish them well and hope that their day gets better.
