The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has removed the largest legal hurdle to certifying spot bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF) options by transferring approval authority to the Options Clearing Corporation (OCC). The move paves the way for Wall Street's access to spot bitcoin ETFs and is likely to increase trading volume and prices. Analysts see this development as an important step for Bitcoin ETFs and the digital currency market. Experts expect these options to be listed soon, however some consider late 2024 or early 2025 as the most likely time. The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has already approved the listing of these products on the CBOE and NYSE exchanges.
