In early days, specifically pre-product, how did you scale your user research?

Why do you want to scale user research? I feel it works better to get more detailed reviews from a select few potential power users to understand the weight of the problem.

Depends on the project and tools. Some companies I worked with would focus on heatmapping their site and combining this with google data. Some would focus on the market research and then try to carve out personas for their project.

Soliciting early adopters on platforms where your target group spend time is a great way to start. And from these conversations figure out how/where to find more such folks. We used X and TG extensively while researching for Obvious.
