Proof of Stake (PoS) is an energy-efficient consensus mechanism used by various cryptocurrencies. Unlike Proof of Work (PoW), PoS validators are chosen based on the number of coins they hold and are willing to "stake" as collateral. This method reduces energy consumption and increases network security.
