Using a Windows laptop for work and a MacBook Pro at home, I'm constantly amazed at the superior energy efficiency and power of Apple Silicon. The battery life on my MacBook Pro is impressive; it hardly drains, and I find myself charging it overnight out of habit when I could probably go a night without charging. Additionally, the MacBook Pro operates quietly and remains cool even during demanding tasks. Although I was on board with the transition from PowerPC to Intel Macs back in the day, I was doubtful about Apple making its own chips five years ago—and I couldn’t have been more mistaken. This has proven to be one of the best strategic decisions of the last decade.

Frames v1 seemed to be overhyped, while frames v2 appear to be underappreciated.

The most important lesson I've learned from the past year is that I didn't explore enough opportunities. I often delayed pursuing my ideas because I felt compelled to concentrate on my ongoing projects. @anoncast originated from just a few hours of work on a Sunday and significantly transformed my last couple of months. Moving forward, I plan to dedicate more of my weekends to experimenting beyond my daily tasks instead of just sticking to my routine. You never know what might result from it!

Occasionally, I allow Cursor, along with sonnet or o1, to analyze the code and my explanation of the issue I'm attempting to resolve, in hopes of identifying the source of a bug. However, this approach has never been successful. For me, they are most effective as advanced tools for auto-completion, Stack Overflow references, and enhanced multi-file editing.

I experienced a rather elaborate scam where someone phoned me, pretending to be a police officer. They claimed that a person had been arrested with a high-quality counterfeit of my passport, along with others involved in cryptocurrency. The caller requested that I provide sensitive personal and crypto information to file a report, but I refused.

I genuinely think that Farcaster is still at such an early stage that you can introduce *anything* and still create economic value. Here are my reasons: - People are willing to accept subpar products initially because we are builders. For instance, my first candles weren’t great, yet people continued to purchase them repeatedly. - There is a small number of active creators/builders. You’re likely competing with around 2000 active users, and not all of them produce quality content. This means there's less competition for attention. - It's simple to establish a niche or community. There's a strong desire among users to be part of something larger, to connect with others, or to support a shared mission. Can the average builder achieve revenues in the hundreds of thousands of dollars right now? Perhaps not. However, some individuals have already done it. More than a few—including myself—have reached $10k or more. That’s sufficient to overcome initial challenges and scale further.

The pressure to work during the holidays in this industry is overwhelming, especially for those with desk jobs like software development. At some point, you just have to say, “Forget it, I’m spending time with my family and playing Wii bowling, and you’ll have to wait.”
