This chart shows the percentage of honest validators needed for all transactions (including censored ones) to be included under FOCIL. With an IL committee size of 16, you only need around 15% honest validators for transactions to be included within the same slot!

🦴🦕 The FOCIL EIP is now EIP-7805 🦕🦴 This EIP proposes a committee-based, Fork-choice enforced Inclusion Lists (FOCIL) mechanism to preserve Ethereum’s censorship resistance properties by guaranteeing timely transaction inclusion. https://x.com/soispoke/status/1853420123563970810

🧩 On multi-proposer gadgets and protocols 🧩 I wrote this small note on the different multi-proposer designs and philosophies behind gadgets like FOCIL🦴 and protocols like BRAID🪢. tldr: FOCIL can be thought of as gadget, or an add-on to the existing Ethereum protocol. It is focused on leveraging multiple validators to improve the network’s censorship resistance properties, but is minimally interfering with the current block market structure. BRAID has a much broader scope, as it aims not only to improve CR but also to 'solve' MEV by trying to prevent any one proposer from having a privileged role or special advantage over others. This involves building a protocol from the ground up, with a new consensus mechanism, as well as significant changes to the execution layer (e.g., ordering rule), and market structure. New post on builder bidding behaviors in ePBS, inspired by "Strategic Bidding Wars in On-chain Auctions". In the post we explore market changes from MEV-Boost to bid p2p and builder RPC, and discover a new single bluff strategy on p2p. Special thanks to @soispoke for the review! 🔗 https://ethresear.ch/t/builder-bidding-behaviors-in-epbs/20129 🔗 https://arxiv.org/abs/2312.14510

Here are the slides of my talk: "Designing against centralizing forces on Ethereum" at MARBLE 2024. It starts with a rather high-level view on what the protocol does before going deeper into PBS, MEV-boost empirical analyses, models and simulations. Link 👇

MEV resistant dynamic pricing auction of execution proposal rights: This post presents an alternative auction mechanism for selling execution proposal rights in advance, relevant to current research on ET/EA. It induces little new MEV, producing a high aggregate MEV burn. Link👇
