Let's go with the next one. Title: Pelagia noctiluca (Mauve Stinger) The painting was created as a memory of an event in Malta a few years ago. While swimming in the sea, I felt a sudden, stabbing pain. Oh shit, I had been stung by a hornet. Wait a minute... A hornet in the middle of the sea... Oh no! It's a jellyfish. So I started swimming chaotically towards the shore. Shouting in the meantime to my friend from the Netherlands "omg get out of the water! right now!" . At this point he was sure it was a shark. The jellyfish fortunately didn’t made complete damage to my skin, but the pain remained till the end of the day. I learned that day that you absolutely cannot wash such burns with fresh water, only salt water. What else is interesting about this painting is the pigment it was painted with. One of the colors was caput mortum. A reddish pigment based on iron oxide. In alchemy, this term meant the residue from the distillation or sublimation of some substance - a residue; a thing of no value.
