Rewatched the Man City vs Newcastle match.

Manchester City dismantled Newcastle’s pressing thanks to Ederson’s brilliance. The visitors tried to mark their opponents individually, but they left the City goalkeeper with too much time on the ball and no pressure. Those extra seconds were enough for him to set up precise long passes that broke through the press.

However, the most important takeaway for Pep in the long run was Nico González’s performance. Unlike Kovačić, he doesn’t rely on driving runs with the ball, which reduces turnovers in midfield. Nico stood out not only with his tempo control and progression but also with his ability to react in transitions and his composure in duels.
