Courtois has conceded five goals in a game three times in his career – and every time it was against Barcelona. There’s nothing to debate, you’ve seen it all. Barça was magnificent: hungry and focused, Raphinha was incredible, and Yamal was absurdly mature yet again in a big game. Real Madrid’s defense hasn’t been this leaky or unstable in ages – there’s no one to steady or reboot the game.
I’ve said it for years: Modrić and Kroos are like player-coaches, and much of Real’s success has been built on their incredible intelligence, intuition, and class. Now, one of them is gone, and the other might as well be 53 years old – there’s simply no one left to guide the team.
Real Madrid’s countless comebacks weren’t just about heroics or royal aura. It was Modrić and Kroos who changed the tempo, minimized mistakes, and brought out the best in their teammates. 1 reply
