they're fantastic gambling chips! but I can't stand the argument a lot of people present these days that stablecoins are the ideal use case for blockchains lol

ideal use for mainstream adoption** after that people will disperse into defi accordingly per their own needs and risk tolerance

eh I still think ideal mainstream adoption use case will be people holding the main coins the metric of adoption for me is "how many ppl on earth prefer holding crypto vs USD because they believe it's a better form of money" using people using stablecoins as a metric of adoption doesn't make sense to me because if these people don't actually see the value of decentralized money, they haven't been onboarded yet

it takes time, you need to onboard normies onchain first with value they know, understand, and "trust" (because we know the trust is disillusioned) get them to trust in blockchains first, then come to believe in decentralized money wholly and absolutely i say all this with my marketing hat on

for people that legitimately have value for stablecoins as a use case, I agree (developing nations, people that have trouble accessing normal dollars, etc) what I don't understand from the marketing perspective is trying to push stablecoins as some upgrade over existing infrastructure in developed nations trying to convince people in the US that using USDC in a crypto wallet is somehow better than Venmo/Paypal/Visa is a losing battle imo, and we are wasting our finite marketing resources when the more valuable avenue for education is teaching people why decentralized alternative currencies matter
