GM Everyone 💙🌊 Big Sur / California (2022/OBJKT) Big Sur was named after the Spanish settlers who lived on the Monterey Peninsula. They referred to the beautiful wilderness area as “El Sur Grande” (“The Big South”)

Big Sur—where the mountains meet the Pacific Ocean. The land itself is as mesmerizing and rolling as this artwork. When the Spanish missionaries settled this strip of land, they carved El Camino Real as they moved northward up the California coast from Mexico spreading the Catholic religion. Nature’s forces are at work 24/7. The vast vistas of the calm and aptly named “Pacific” ocean, give rise to some of the largest, and most threatening waves in the world. Some of the greatest surf breaks in North America exist along this rugged coastline. And the land in turn, rolls with seismic waves that are constantly reshaping the Earth in an unrelenting series of earthquakes. Bravo @smnta. You’ve captured the essence of Big Sur.
