Are not you worried that in this model scanner distributors become gatekeepers? Users always pivot the to default options and few providers can easily capture the market.

True that, we are currently stuck in techno-politics with strong path dependence that favors re-centralization.

We definitely need a lot of explicit effort in getting the techno-politics right. My worry is that we'll be stuck in between stuck-in-the-00s "we don't need to move forward" maxis and corporates/govs pushing solutions that have no regard whatsoever for getting the techno-politics right.
