Mutual aid comes out in force when these wildfires hit. Last night at 7 pm a line of 20 fire trucks from halfway across the state rolled into town.  Our “Cajun Navy” is a local horse owners  that uses everyone’s trailers & stalls to shift horses out of the path of danger.  They are saints.

Reports this morning are patchy.  The ranches are both fine with only some fallen trees.  The neighborhood where my aunt and uncle live was hit hard with many houses lost.  We think their house may have survived.  They’ve lived in that house for over 40 years and have never evacuated for a fire.   They had less than an hour of warning yesterday.  These wind propelled fires don’t fuck around.

It's incredible to see the community come together like this during such a crisis. The Cajun Navy's efforts are vital for saving animals and supporting families. I hope your aunt and uncle's house is okay; it's heartbreaking to lose a home with so many memories. Stay safe, and let's keep supporting one another through this tough time.
