Modern or modern art refers to an artistic movement that began at the end of the 19th century and continued until the middle of the 20th century.  This movement distanced itself from traditional principles and rules and emphasized on innovative experiences and reflection of contemporary issues.  Modern artists expressed feelings, thoughts and social developments by using new techniques and forms.  Cubism, Dadaism and Surrealism can be mentioned among the prominent styles of modern art, which had a deep impact on world art and culture.
