Does anyone have a hiring manager's perspective on coding bootcamps? A friend is interested in attending one, and I have no idea how to help him assess them. (reddit = too much promo, coursereport = product placement). What's the inside scoop on which schools are the best?

My $0.02: 1) The instructors matter hugely. Check out who will be teaching the course. 2) He should drop the course (for some partial refund) if he is not “getting it” within the first 4 weeks or so.

An eng manager friend whose opinion I trust on this put it this way — “bootcampers are like plumbers, they can fix the piping system but can’t build it. But it’s a good start and if they’re motivated and continue to put in the work they *can* become great ” Just one opinion!

attended fullstack academy, had a great time assuming it’s one of the mainstream ones (flatiron, fullstack, app academy), you really get what you put in. no bootcamp by itself is a cure-all re: job search, look for the one with the most alumni at the co’s they’re interested in
