Hyperion is a book with something for almost anyone. There are new strange worlds to explore; there are parts filled with action, fighting and sex; there are philosophical chapters and some that ponder the meaning of faith; there are AIs; there is time travel... all within a detailed and fascinating world. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

In Hyperion's universe, Farcasters are giant portals that connect different planets, allowing instantaneous interstellar travel. They form the backbone of the WorldWeb - a network of human-inhabited planets. Farcasters use enormous amounts of energy to create wormhole-like passages through space-time. The Farcaster network profoundly impacts society, from commerce to personal relationships. However, reliance on this technology also creates vulnerabilities, as network disruptions can have far-reaching consequences for human civilization. How good that network disruptions on Warpcast only mean that I spend less time online 😜
