Pretty wild that we're nearing the end of 2024 and the market hasn't agreed upon one standard or model for marrying NFTs and tokens. Jury is still out - very curious to see where this lands in 2025.

I don’t think this will happen, they can serve different purposes - and also new models will emerge over time

Agreed they can and will serve different purposes. I feel strongly the winning playbook for this cycle is the one that combines the energy around 2021 PFPs with a renewed model of 2024 memecoins. People should be able to buy into a token in a way that feels fun. NFTs make it fun. Tokens make it liquid.

Yeah i understand where you’re coming from, i suppose what i mean is that as crypto grows, i think we will see less cycle-level unified metas in general. The same way last cycles NFT boom had various sub-metas (ie 1/1 art, AB, pfps, OEs) i think across crypto we will see divergent themes happening simultaneously and they’re less likely to compress into one standardized form factor. You’ll have zora liquid mints, pure memecoins, maybe 404s, etc. all happening simultaneously and perhaps all being lucrative

To be more concise: i agree with your point re marrying tokens and NFTs, but disagree that there will be a dominant standard or playbook that “wins” across crypto
