In December 2024, the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Ethics released a report concerning former Representative Matt Gaetz. The Committee investigated allegations that Gaetz engaged in sexual misconduct, illicit drug use, accepted impermissible gifts, dispensed special favors to individuals with whom he had personal relationships, and obstructed the Committee's investigation.
After extensive fact-finding, the Committee found substantial evidence supporting these allegations, concluding that Gaetz violated House Rules, federal laws, and standards of conduct. Specifically, they determined he engaged in sexual misconduct in violation of state laws, used illegal drugs, accepted gifts exceeding permissible amounts (including a 2018 trip to the Bahamas), and sought to obstruct the investigation. 2 replies
