One of my favorite scenes in the movie is when Robbie writes a letter to Cecilia. He starts off trying to write a sincere apology, but then, as if he's liberated, scribbles a playful note instead, laughing to himself. The combination of the music, cinematography, and Robbie’s charm made my heart flutter.
Though the film stirs feelings of anger, the delicate performances of the actors playing Robbie and Cecilia leave a lasting impression, even after the credits roll.
I highly recommend Atonement to those looking for a melodrama with stunning visuals and music. Director Joe Wright’s exceptional mise-en-scène and the beautiful score make you feel as if you’re watching a work of art. While the story is heart-wrenching, the sheer beauty of the visuals and music make this film worth recommending on its own.
And lastly… Briony, you deserve divine punishment! 2 replies
