Coordination of disparate elements requires a level of autonomy, to make decisions that are best for their cohort. 

Centralized command doesn’t quite work all the time, synchronized command doesn’t work all the time. 

There’s a clarity around the mission that is generally required though I think? Or else it doesn’t work?

A shared mission is always good, if not necessary, but I think orgs with competing functions are pretty interesting

Similarly, I bet pretty much every DeFi company has an R&D/creative function that is coming up with new contract designs, and a compliance function that reins in the R&D into something that won't get everyone arrested 😂
