What's on your mind?

Did you focus on the direction you thought was most meaningful at the time, or that had the biggest monetary impact? Were they mutually exclusive

i guess an ideal world is both, and it shouldn't be mutually exclusive if a startup. but there are definitely more direct approaches to making money than some directions let on initially

When I moved to Silicon Valley in 2013 optimized along two axes:

1. Earliest stage possible without being a founder
2. Momentum / what I believed the success case upside to be

Goal was to 1) career trajectory and 2) make money. Started off at a SaaS company as employee 1 and then moved to Coinbase as employee 20.
