bytedance made us the first users of the “new” tiktok ads platform, we created trends for a fuckload of songs like old town road, say so, savage, the box etc. lots of brands like sephora, chipotle, and crocs spent ungodly amounts of money with us to go viral

i deleted the app in 2023, which was probably the healthiest decision ive made in adulthood. in my view, the app is as close to porn / junk food for the mind as you can get. the algo is a furious overpromotion of random consumption that leads to a weird cesspool where everyone scrolling has no idea that theyre just watching a slew of covert ads, and everyone “creating” faces this rude awakening that they’re just follower-vessels for big brands and record labels, and goes manic
