This past summer was in Budapest with @entter. Our visit to the Victor Vasarely museum is still strong in my memory.

Have been there many times. The first time was in 89 just before the cold war ended. Have favourite places and restaurants. Also have a distant cousin that is Hungarian. In fact am a Hungarian citizen through my mother who was born in Budapest in 1940s.

Its golden age, roughly from the 1700s until the beginning of the second world war is very evident in the architecture at the center of the city. Truly grand in a way that don't feel it in Vienna. Not really sure why exactly. It's all so well laid out. And the best way to spend the day is at one of the bath houses. There are several. If you go can provide you with specific recommendations.
