Observation: often when I'm short on time/attention but want to read Farcaster, I don't even scroll my home feed at all. I just visit profiles of voices I trust the most and check their 'casts+replies' and/or 'likes' tabs for quick pointers to quality threads. I've been doing this a long time.

It depends on who's currently casting actively about an interest I want to read about, so they're not really ranked.
