How do people feel about onchain contracts including an optional fee that can be bolted on by frontends? Primarily to incentivize more third-party frontends to be developed. Are there better ways to do this?

I feel like this is a design pattern that has been under experimented, would love to see more projects playing around with it to see if it's viable

Kinda feels gross to add an extra field and however much gas to transactions. I feel like in a perfect world, this would be done on a different layer? Perhaps by the paymaster with smartwallets? Maybe frontends need a way to "claim" tx hash id's in a registry before they get broadcasted?

This also feels tangential to claiming impact for RetroPGF for frontends.

Feels like most devs don’t care about gas on L2s these days 🤷♂️ like how web devs feel like memory is unlimited
