In 2007, Masa called Steve Jobs about mobile phones. Jobs laughed: "We haven't even announced the iPhone yet, and you don't even own a carrier!" Masa simply said, "I'll buy one." He then purchased Vodafone Japan for $20 billion to secure iPhone rights.

There is a special relationship between /japan urbanites and iPhone. clearly it is first and second class citizen and android is nowhere to be seen. Starbucks makes it so obvious that they promote app clip proprietary QR code instead of a std QR code.
