PKOK HYPERSUB AIRDROP #20 * Self * ‘Self’ is an invitation to confront the complexities of self-representation, where the act of looking outward becomes an intimate reflection of the infinite selves within. Curated the self-portraits of five artists we love, and hope you will too: @francienkrieg, @adacrow, @seanmundy, @barbarabezina, @sereneobscurity. If you’ve been paying attention, the art revolution on base is blowing up but has only just begun in the grand scheme. There’s not only a great deal of value in based art but also phenomenal cred to be an early patron of artists on base. Our hypersub has been delivering just that, great curated art by amazing artists.

Francien Krieg @francienkrieg, is a globally multi-awarded and multi-published artist with her works exhibited in museums in the Netherlands, Spain, and USA. In her long career, she's had countless solo, dual, and group exhibitions across Europe and North America. Her paintings are known for their distinctive celebration of the aging form and for questioning conventional notions of beauty. "The truth is that I paint myself... and therefore the battle of my own body with age, my own fears, and my fascination with death." More recently, Francien has been incorporating AI into her artwork in addition to her usual paintings. This has allowed her to produce hybrid pieces that blend the fascinating and unpredictable productions of algorithms with her own creative vision. The outcome is an intriguing fusion of artificial and human intelligence that has allowed Krieg to explore new creative directions.

He seeks to subvert the classic narrative formula by taking a subtle, minimalistic approach to create artworks that depend on subjective associations. Sean Mundy has had features and interviews since 2014 in various art publications and magazines around the world. From 2016, he was invited and participated in countless local and international group exhibitions and art fairs in North Carolina, Santa Monica, Mexico City, Paris, Venice, New Orleans, Miami, Los Angeles, Rome, etc. Sean's work had been featured in the renowned Aesthetica Magazine in 2021, and one year later, he was part of the famous "Art Innovation Gallery” exhibition in Times Square, NYC.

Joanna Canara @sereneobscurity is an Indian artist who transforms nostalgia, melancholy, and daydreams into ethereal compositions that explore mental health. Born into a strict cult in Western India, where life was governed by rigid rules, she found solace in art from a young age, filling sketchbooks before transitioning to photography. Her self-portraits overlaid on ordinary scenes reveal beauty in darkness, a style she honed after joining Instagram in 2013. Her photograph, I Don’t Belong Here, went viral in 2020, marking a turning point in her artistic journey and her decision to become a full-time artist. Joanna’s exploration of web3 began on Tezos, where she has since gathered over 700 collectors, including works featured in the Tezos Permanent Collection. Her creations weave the fantastical with the surreal, drawing audiences into dreamlike worlds where they can lose themselves and find profound meaning in the everyday.
