The British researcher, Noel Malcolm, also believes in his book, A Brief History of Bosnia, that the tie first went to Europe from Iran during the Sassanid period. These Iranians were Mani's followers[citation needed] and used a cloth on the front of their shirts to distinguish themselves from others.
