Even if we grant him the premise that human rights were "invented" by America, that still doesn't explain why Canada and the EU can't have a deeper alliance outside of the US?

You’re getting tripped up on the word “invented” don’t take it as a 100% discrete event, it’s just a marker that brings everything together into one model that everybody else now basically uses. Obviously those countries literally can physically do that. The point is that it’s interesting because the US created the basis for that relationship in terms of it being about Western values. You can see my train of thought on how those are connected
