What used to garner the world’s best artwork is no longer. 

Twitter/X has become a wasteland for all things art.

This is a hard truth for many, and especially to people who weren’t actively participating with the art community on twitter prior to 2020.

Quality work is now easier to find through other platforms. 

I know great art is still published on twitter, but the communal aspect is gone, and you must dig deep for it.

Not sure why, but the $44b acquisition seemed to add fuel to the fire, which may have sped up the community’s inevitable destination.

On the bright side, this feels like a clean slate moment. 

Hyper-curation is beginning to rule the next era of digital assets.

Opensea is becoming Craigslist, while niche platforms, networks, & marketplaces continue to emerge.

Unfortunately, the beginning of the end coincides with the widespread introduction of NFTs. 

Suddenly, money became the motive, behavior changed, and the once flourishing art community started to dissolve. 

I don’t believe NFTs are at fault, but the side effects of human behavior + new tech & markets are real.
