Lazy take but I feel like in 20-50 years people are gonna look at suburbs fondly the way urbanists do today with mixed use buildings. (Assuming we develop more localized commercial/retail fronts that aren't plazas or malls)

Doubt. Even if we develop more real urban fabric, there’s no way we can erase most or even some meaningful portion of existing suburban sprawl. Unlike how we erased basically all downtowns. in the 40s-80s

Yes but some of the suburbs are sprawling neighborhoods where every house is a carbon copy of another and barely different. Older suburban neighborhoods have more diversity.
