iirc, by default uploaded images go through Cloudinary, but in theory you can hotlink any image on the web. I haven't checked to see if it gets cached/transformed/compressed on their Cloudinary instance though.

looks like it got converted to .avif but only the first frame came through. local preview worked!

I think something similar happens when copy/pasting gifs. Especially in direct casts. Would love more consistent gif/animated images! cc @gt
