What's this technique for the perfect loop of flowing pixels?

I love how compact the animations are yet it brings a ton of movement to the piece!

yo steve! it is a gradient cycle combined with custom brushes usually (in my case, using DeluxePaint2)

using Deluxe Paint or BBC micro abandonware then putting all together in GIMP we all have different ways of doing... @sabato has some DP skills too

so it depends on software usage, no name for this technique afaik
