Farcaster Dev Day impressions - developers, developers, developers - Merkle team takes in so much input and feedback, has complex problems to solve and things to build, yet impressively prioritizes with great focus - I constantly was thinking "whoa, people in this room are like *smart* smart" - it’s 10% humbling, 90% reinvigorating seeing not just the brains but passion behind a lot of these projects; project update casts don’t capture the nuanced excitement of someone speaking - building anywhere between 10% to 100% on top of Farcaster are both viable strategies today, albeit the latter is higher risk (and higher reward) given the hard pivots APIs have to take for the sake of moving fast - imposter syndrome fades quickly when people you respect hear your ideas and show genuine excitement and encouragement to see them through - overall it felt like a bunch of candles of varying flames come together and ignite each other; that is to say it even if it was mostly talking, it was lit 1/2

(cont) - chronically online friendships get the job done but URL to IRL has such a palpable energy to it, recommend anyone and everyone to make it out to an event to feel it - unexpectedly met and geeked out legends @etash and @shando who I befriended online three years ago in the trenches of 2021 NFT mania - waxed poetic about terraforms, 113, and maximally onchain art with @mjc716 - @androidsixteen.eth has a notable grounded and thoughtful presence that I feel we need more of in this space; anon auras are built different - @ted truly knows how to bring people together; whether it’s acquaintances at a dinner or devs flying from different parts of the world, she’s so welcoming and kind. Truly a gem for our network at large - Villa Brasil Motel and ACE car rental are hidden gems both with stellar quality and service. I was gonna gate keep these for myself but they deserve all the business in the world so check em out next time you visit LA 2/2

(bonus that got delayed from posting due to wifiless flight) - watching @dylsteck.eth type up a storm of play-by-play conversation notes on Obsidian made me wanna double down efforts and get back into the habit of using it for everything - hanging with the @ponder crew was a blast; found myself yapping with each of them individually on specific topics like /adhd /parenting /homelabs /terraforms - it’s now a goal of mine for every Farcaster meetup to try to terraform-pill someone who’s been mildly curious but hasn’t done their homework; apologies in advance but also you’re welcome 3/2
